Automatic, Fixed Power Factor Correction
Systems (FCS) and Capacitor Banks
Technical-economical advantages of the
installation of Power Factor Correction System or Capacitor Bank are to
provide the decrease of the losses in the network and on the
transformers caused by the minor absorbed current, the decrease of
voltage voltage on lines and optimization of the system sizing. The
Power Factor Correction System consists of one or more group of
capacitors, operating and protection devices, controller and monitoring
system
Standard capacitors are characterized
by :
- A polypropylene metallic
self-healing film
- All capacitors featured are fitted
with an overpressure disconnector. If several self-healing breakdowns
occur at the end of useful life or a result of thermal or electric
overload, the formation of gas produces a fast rise in pressure inside
the capacitor case. This causes a change in length of the case
stretching of the expansion bellow. Expansion beyond a certain degree
will disconnect the internal wires and from the line.
- Aluminium case
3ln capacitors are characterized by :
- A bi-metallic self-healing paper
separated by a polypropylene film
- Impregnation under vacuum
- All capacitors featured are fitted
with an overpressure disconnector. If several self-healing breakdowns
occur at the end of useful life or a result of thermal or electric
overload, the formation of gas produces a fast rise in pressure inside
the capacitor case. This causes a change in length of the case
stretching of the expansion bellow. Expansion beyond a certain degree
will disconnect the internal wires and from the line.
- Aluminium case
